Official: Athletic Club star departs for | OneFootball

A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga outfit Athletic Club has early this week secured a move away from the club.

The player in question? Álvaro Djaló.

Frontman Djaló for his part only linked up with Athletic Club in the summer of 2024.

To say that the 25-year-old’s debut season in the Basque Country proved to be a disappointment, though, would be putting it lightly.

Despite having arrived for a significant fee, and with lofty expectations on his shoulders, Djaló struggled on his way to just a solitary goal across 17 La Liga appearances.

In turn, on Monday, it should not come as a major surprise to learn of the Spaniard moving on.

As per a statement across Athletic’s website and social media platforms:

‘Álvaro Djaló will play on loan at Al Gharafa SC until the end of the upcoming campaign. The deal with the Qatari club includes a non-binding purchase clause.’
