Official: Athletic club star signs contract extension | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Athletic Club has this week been rewarded for his form, by way of a contract extension.

The player in question? Yuri Berchiche.

Left-back Berchiche, for his part, has continued to play a starring role for Athletic Club across the season to date.

All told, across all competitions, the Spaniard has racked up 36 appearances, chipping in with a goal and three assists along the way.

And evidently, such exploits on the part of the 35-year-old have not gone at all unappreciated on the part of those behind the scenes in the Basque Country.

This comes amid confirmation that Berchiche has seen an extension clause triggered in his contract.

As per a statement across Athletic’s website and social media platforms:

‘Yuri Berchiche’s performances and number of appearances so far this campaign have earned him the right to extend his stay at Athletic Club for a futher year, until 30 June 2026.’
