Official: Athletic Club star undergoes surgery | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Athletic Club have on Monday announced a setback in the club’s first-team setup.

This comes amid confirmation that attacker Maroan Sannadi is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines, after undergoing surgery on his knee.

As per a statement across the Basque outfit’s website and social media platforms early this week:

‘Athletic Club forward Maroan Sannadi has undergone successful surgery on the meniscus in his right knee.

‘The Moroccan international began the season with discomfort mainly due to a long-standing meniscus injury, which was operated on today. 

‘Maroan is expected to be discharged from hospital on Tuesday and will then begin his recuperation process at Lezama.’

Sannadi had for his part found himself in and out of Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic line-up over the early months of the campaign.

All told, the Morocco international featured in eight of Los Leones’ first 11 La Liga fixtures.

Just two of these appearances, though, came in the form of starts, giving rise to a solitary goal.
