Official: Atlético Madrid announce deadline day signing | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Tuesday announced a fresh addition to the club’s ranks in the attacking third. This comes amid confirmation of Jonathan David taking his talents to Spain’s capital for the duration of the season ahead.

Frontman David has of course seen his name dominate the media headlines surrounding Atlético Madrid for several days now. After word was forthcoming that Diego Simeone had set his sights firmly on the Juventus man’s signature amid a search for fresh blood up top, negotiations were opened over the terms of a transfer.

After a difficult debut campaign for David in Italy, Juve quickly sourced a replacement, in the form of Newcastle United’s Nick Woltemade.

This unlocked the former’s Metropolitano switch, with David, in turn, having flown out to Spain earlier today to undergo a medical and sign his contract as an Atléti player.

And as alluded to above, just hours out from the transfer deadline, the Canadian’s Rojiblancos switch has been made official. As per a statement across Atlético’s website and social media platforms:

‘Atlético de Madrid and Juventus have reached an agreement over the loan of Jonathan David. The striker will wear the Red & White jersey during the 2026/27 season.’
