Atletico Madrid have officially completed the signing of goalkeeper Juan Musso from Atalanta, who heads to LaLiga on loan with an obligation to buy under certain sporting conditions.
Musso leaves La Dea after three full seasons, during which time he made 99 appearances across all competitions. He also has a further 104 outings from his time with Udinese between 2018 and 2021.
He was also part of the Europa League-winning Atalanta side under Gian Piero Gasperini last season, playing every game apart from the final group stage match on the way to an historic victory over Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.
Musso also played in the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid earlier this month.
His transfer is part of a chain of moving goalkeepers, which has also seen Atleti send Horatiu Moldovan on loan to Sassuolo, Musso moving to Atleti as his replacement and Rui Patricio joining Atalanta to cover the gap.
The 30-year-old is expected to serve as an understudy to first choice Jan Oblak in Spain, while Marco Carnesecchi is now expected to be Atalanta’s no.1 in goal.
“Good luck, European champion,” Atalanta wrote in a farewell message.
