La Liga giants Barcelona have on Wednesday announced a pair of fitness setbacks in the club’s first-team ranks.

This comes amid confirmation that both Alejandro Balde and Jules Koundé are set for incoming spells on the sidelines.

Defenders Balde and Koundé played their respective parts on Tuesday night, as Barcelona welcomed Atlético Madrid to Catalunya’s capital for a Copa del Rey clash.

En route to an eventual 3-0 Blaugrana victory on the evening, however, the pair were forced to limp out of proceedings prematurely.

Koundé’s exit came first, inside the opening 10 minutes.

And after a round of medical tests at the Ciutat Esportiva, the extent of the Frenchman’s blow has since been detailed as follows:

‘First-team player Jules Kounde has suffered a mid-belly hamstring (biceps femoris) injury in his left thigh. His recovery progress will determine his availability.’

Fellow full-back Balde was introduced off the bench in Koundé’s place, but followed suit in picking up an injury during the 2nd-half.

And the Spaniard’s problem is set to keep him sidelined for a spell of around a month:

‘First-team player Alejandro Balde has suffered a distal hamstring (biceps femoris) injury in his left thigh. Examinations indicate that the recovery process will take approximately 4 weeks.’
