La Liga champions Barcelona have this weekend announced a departure from the club’s defensive ranks.
The Blaugrana star to have moved on? Iñigo Martínez.
The name of stopper Iñigo has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several days now.
This comes after word was forthcoming that, somewhat out of the blue, the 34-year-old had made the call to bring a close to the Barcelona chapter of his career.
In search of one final big-money pay day, Iñigo, in turn, agreed on the terms of a contract with Saudi outfit Al-Nassr.
And as alluded to above, after undergoing a medical in Riyadh over the last 24 hours, the experienced defender’s Camp Nou exit has now been made official.
As per a statement across Barcelona’s website and social media platforms:
‘FC Barcelona announce the departure of the first team player Iñigo Martinez.
‘We would like to thank him for his professionalism, efforts, dedication and commitment during his two seasons in a blaugrana jersey. We wish him all the best for the future. Thank you for everything, Iñigo.’
