FC Barcelona have had quite a memorable start to the 2025-26 season. They won the Spanish Super Cup last Sunday, defeating Real Madrid in the final of the competition, and also made their way to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey a few days ago, after defeating Racing Santander.

Now, the Catalans are set to face off against Real Sociedad as they return to La Liga action. As things stand, they are standing atop the league table, but are only 1 point ahead of Real Madrid, as the Merengues won their game last night.

Thus, Barcelona would need to win the game against La Reale to keep a safe distance over their arch-rivals in the table. However, as the squad list published by the club for the game against Real Sociedad shows, they will be unable to count on some important players for this game.

The most notable absence is going to be that of Raphinha, who is suffering from a knock to his right thigh, and is not a part of the squad as a precaution. Similarly, Gavi and Andreas Christensen also continue to recover from their injuries, and are not a part of the squad for this game.
