Barcelona fans can finally mark their calendars. The club has officially confirmed that the first match back at Spotify Camp Nou will take place on August 10, 2025.

In a heartfelt video released by the club, it was announced that the Joan Gamper Trophy will be the grand occasion to reopen the iconic stadium, with Hansi Flick’s men set to face Como, managed by none other than Barça legend Cesc Fabregas.

Club president Joan Laporta had already hinted earlier this month that the Gamper Trophy would be hosted at the Spotify Camp Nou.

“The plan is to return in September of this year. It’s been talked to La Liga. In August, we will return to Spotify Camp Nou with the Joan Gamper Trophy,” he had stated.

Now, with the release of the video, it is safe to assume that all the necessary permits have been granted to allow the club’s symbolic return to their spiritual home.

The Gamper match will serve as a soft opening before the first official fixture in September, which will likely attract a larger audience.

Camp Nou to reopen with increased capacity

Initially, the club planned to reopen the stadium with a limited capacity of 25,000 for safety reasons.

However, due to faster-than-expected progress on the stadium renovations, this figure might now be increased. If everything continues smoothly, around 35,000 fans could be welcomed into the ground on August 10.

This number, while still short of the expected 65,000 capacity for competitive matches later in the season, is a big step forward and reflects the successful pace of construction and safety compliance.

Final attendance numbers will be confirmed closer to the date, as structural and security evaluations continue. Regardless of capacity, the August 10 match will be a moment of celebration and renewal for Barça fans worldwide as their beloved club finally returns home.
