Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have on Thursday officially been crowned La Liga champions for 2024/25.

This comes owing to a hard-fought victory over city rivals Espanyol.

Hansi Flick’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to RCDE Stadium for the latest edition of the Derbi Barceloní.

Despite Real Madrid’s downing of Mallorca on Wednesday night, the Blaugrana headed into proceedings in the knowledge that a victory of their own would see their status as Spanish champions for the season confirmed.

And as alluded to above, when all was said and done, this is precisely what Hansi Flick’s men managed.

After Lamine Yamal put the evening’s visitors in front early in the 2nd-half in spectacular fashion, Fermín López put the result to bed deep into injury-time.

Barcelona, in turn, have put themselves out of reach of 2nd-placed Real Madrid, with two gameweeks of the campaign remaining.
