La Liga giants Barcelona have this week announced the permanent signing of Hamza Abdelkarim.

This comes after the young attacker spent the 2nd half of this past season plying his trade on loan in Catalunya’s capital.

Abdelkarim, for those not familiar with his name, is widely considered a future star in the making in his home country of Egypt.

This reputation culminated in a winter move to the aforementioned Barcelona from Al Ahly, and an ensuing call-up to his country’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.

Abdelkarim’s time in the colours of Barca’s U19s gave rise to 11 appearances all told. Across these outings, the towering young striker managed to find the net six times.

And as alluded to above, along the way, Abdelkarim evidently did enough to convince those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou of his readiness to contribute over the seasons ahead.

As per a statement across the Blaugrana’s social media platforms on Tuesday:

‘FC Barcelona has informed Al Ahly that it is exercising its purchase option for player Hamza Abdelkarim. The Egyptian striker is joining the Club on a permanent basis, with whom he will sign for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2029.’
