As expected, FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that midfield prodigy Marc Bernal has been given the green light by the medical department after spending over a year out of action.
Bernal, 18, suffered an ACL rupture in August 2024, only three games into his senior career with the Blaugrana.
Having impressed under Hansi Flick and become a starter, the injury sustained against Rayo Vallecano came as a major setback for the La Masia graduate.
Bernal has worked hard on his recovery and has been training with the group for a few weeks now. In fact, the player was eager to return to playing last month itself, when Barça faced Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy match.
But, Barcelona opted not to rush the youngster and ease him back into action. Having seen enough in training, the medical department has finally granted him the discharge, 382 days after he suffered his injury.
Bernal, now, will be included in the squad list for Sunday’s La Liga game against Valencia. It will be interesting to see if he gets any minutes at Estadi Johan Cruyff or not, but his return is a big positive for Flick & Co.
