Official: Barcelona sign 18-year-old Dutch defensive talent | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Dutch defensive prodigy Juwensley Onstein from Belgian outfit KRC Genk.

The 18-year-old starlet, who has signed a contract until 2028, will initially be a part of Barça Atletic, with a view to making a breakthrough into the senior team in the future.

“FC Barcelona and KRC Genk have reached an agreement for the transfer of Juwensley Onstein . The Dutch centre-back has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, until June 30, 2028, with the option to extend for another year,” the club statement read.

Onstein, 18, is a left-footed centre-back who stands out for his physical stature as well as ball-playing abilities from the back.

The young defender started out at the academy of Vitesse Arnhem before moving to the AFC Ajax youth setup, where he spent close to four years.

Having joined Genk in 2023, he has made 20 appearances for the club’s reserve team and now signs for Barcelona.

Onstein also happens to be a Netherlands youth international, having represented the team at the Under-16 and Under-18 stages.
