FC Barcelona have released their first squad list of the 2025/26 season for the match against Mallorca, with La Liga confirming the shirt numbers of the players.
Although not definitive due to the transfer window remaining open until 1 September, the players already have their assigned numbers for tonight’s official debut at Son Moix.
Following his registration to replace the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen and his inclusion in the squad list, much anticipation surrounded which number Joan Garcia would wear on his official debut.
During pre-season, the new signing wore Ter Stegen’s ‘1’ in all four matches. However, he will now begin his official spell with Barcelona wearing ‘13’.
Meanwhile, Inaki Pena, expected to leave this summer, will temporarily take over the ‘1’ until Wojciech Szczesny can be registered. The Polish goalkeeper is expected to keep ‘25’ once confirmed.
In defence, Pau Cubarsi will officially take the ‘5’ left vacant by Inigo Martinez following his move to Al Nassr. The centre-back inherits a number worn by legends such as Carles Puyol and Sergio Busquets.

Cubarsi already wore the ‘5’ in the Joan Gamper Trophy against Como, but tonight will mark his first LaLiga match with the iconic number.
There are no changes in the shirt numbers of Barcelona’s first-team midfield personnel, but a couple in the attacking department.
The most high-profile change is Lamine Yamal inheriting the iconic ‘10’, previously worn by legends like Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, and Ronaldinho. With Ansu Fati’s departure, the young forward has claimed the number.
Meanwhile, new signing Marcus Rashford will make his LaLiga debut wearing the ‘14’, the number made legendary by Johan Cruyff and later worn by Thierry Henry and Javier Mascherano.
At the moment, the numbers ‘2’, ‘12’, ‘18’, ‘19’, ‘22’ and ‘25’ remain unassigned, though four of them are expected to be taken once Szczesny, Gerard Martin, Marc Bernal and Roony Bardghji are registered.
Moreover, Ter Stegen is expected to recover the ‘1’ once Pena is deregistered.
