In a major boost, FC Barcelona have announced that fan-favourite midfielder Gavi has received medical clearance after more than six months out.

The La Masia midfielder suffered a knee injury in late August and had to undergo arthroscopic surgery to address the issue.

During the surgery, it was found out that the problem was more serious than it was initially anticipated, meaning the midfielder was staring at a lengthier absence.

Now, having spent a little over six months out on the sidelines, and worked hard on his recovery and rehabilitation, Gavi has received the all-clear to make his comeback.

“Gavi has received medical clearance and is available for tomorrow’s match against Sevilla,” the club statement read.

The Spanish international had begun training with the rest of the group for a while now and even travelled with the squad for their recent matches against Athletic Club and Newcastle United.

Now, with Barcelona set to face Sevilla tomorrow at the Spotify Camp Nou, Gavi has finally been given the go-ahead from the medical department and could make his comeback.

This will come as a huge boost for Barça heading into the final phase of the season, especially with Frenkie de Jong currently out with injury and Pedri’s workload being managed carefully after his own fitness woes.
