Manchester United have announced the completion of the signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Seško.

Seško joins the Premier League side for a fixed fee of €76.5m and with potential add-ons of €8.5m, rises to €85m. The 22-year-old has signed a contract at the club until 2030.

On moving to United, Seško said:

“The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future. “When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon. “From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions. “I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben [Amorim] and connecting with my teammates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.”

What Manchester United can expect from Seško in the Premier League

Since joining Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg, Seško has scored 39 goals in 87 games. His time at the Red Bull Arena will likely be filled with what could have been.

At times, the Slovenian looked like he could be a world-beating striker, scoring unthinkable goals, but at the same time, missing easy chances. Heading to Old Trafford, it should be noted that Seško is still incredibly raw, so it would be ambitious to expect a striker who could match the scoring rate of Erling Haaland immediately.

Leipzig already has a Seško replacement in the squad, with Loïs Openda expected to become the club’s number one striker, while they also pursue a deal for Götzepe striker Romulo.
