With just one year left on his contract, Bertrand Traoré has departed Ajax Amsterdam and signed with Sunderland. The Burkinabe winger has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Premier League newcomers, with an option for an additional year included in the agreement.

Sunderland paid close to €3 million to secure the services of the 29-year-old winger. This marks Bertrand Traoré's big return to the Premier League after previous stints with Chelsea and Aston Villa.

The native of Bobo-Dioulasso enjoyed a real resurgence last season with Ajax, netting 6 goals and providing 5 assists for the club he knows so well—where he wrote one of the brightest chapters of his career between 2016 and 2017, scoring 13 goals in 39 matches.

This transfer is a major coup for the Black Cats, who hope Traoré's experience and talent will add a new dimension to their attack. After spells at top clubs like Chelsea, Olympique Lyon, and Aston Villa, the Burkinabe star's mission will be to help Sunderland stay among English football’s elite.
