Chelsea are getting ready to head out and play Liverpool at Anfield right now, but behind the scenes there’s serious work going on as the club search for a new manager.

Andoni Iraola, who is about to leave Bournemouth, has been favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge ever since Liam Rosenior was sacked. But it’s looking more and more complicated.

The Spanish media reported last week that Crystal Palace were going to go in hard for him, and that’s now spreading to other sources

Palace hoping to snatch Iraola before other teams get in gear

Italian insider Nicolo Schira is reporting that Palace have made an “official bid” to sign Iraola, clearly hoping to show how much they want him compared to teams like Chelsea who want to explore their options.

A move from Bournemouth to Palace would be a bit of a sideways move for Iraola – especially given some of the top clubs he’s been linked with.

But if they make a convincing offer before anyone else gets in gear, they’ve certainly got a chance.
