The Italy FA confirm Riccardo Calafiori suffered an injury to his left knee against Germany and is, therefore, returning to his club, Arsenal.
The Italian defender slipped on the San Siro turf in the final minutes of Italy’s Nations League quarter-final first leg against Germany and was seen limping away from the mixed zone after the match.
The Italian FA have confirmed Calafiori’s injury with an official statement, saying that the ex-Bologna defender is already on his way to Arsenal.

“Riccardo Calafiori, who underwent tests late this morning after sustaining an injury to his left knee during yesterday’s match against Germany, has been deemed unavailable for Sunday’s second leg and will return to his club,” the Italian FA said.
Several sources in Italy claim that Calafiori’s latest injury will force him to the sidelines for two to three weeks.
Calafiori started for Italy on Thursday, joining Alessandro Bastoni and Giovanni Di Lorenzo in a three-man defence.
The Azzurri lost 2-1 at San Siro, so they’ll be looking to turn the fixture around on Sunday in the second leg in Dortmund, but they’ll have to do so without Calafiori.
