After joining from Watford a year ago the attacker has really impressed in the Under-18 team. Now, following his 17th birthday, he’s able to sign his first pro deal.

A precocious talent, Eboue was playing for the Under-21s at Watford before coming to Cobham. Here he’s mainly been back with his own age group, although he’s also played in the UEFA Youth League team which is an Under-19 bracket.

For the Under-18s he’s got 16 appearances, with 3 goals in all competitions. That form has even earned him a first England call up, with the youngster joining the England Under-17 squad for the first time in September. The highlight of his 2025 on the pitch came with that team, as he bagged a hattrick against the USA back in November.

Eboue is the son of former Arsenal player Emmanuel, who has already predicted his son will make his bow for the Blues before long: “I think I would want to stay at the club [if I were him],” the former Gunners defender said.

“Because you can see how much they like to use their younger players – so for him, I think it’s better to stay at Chelsea, because when he turns 17 very soon, they’re going to look to use him – maybe next season.”

Congratulations to Mathis – we expect to hear more and more about him in the next couple of years as he steps up to the Development Squad and eventually likely heads out on loan.

Wesley Fofana showed his superb abilities last night, and continued to remind us all how frustrated we are that his career at Chelsea so far has been so ruined by injury.

Late fitness issues in the group meant that Liam Rosenior had to change his usual pattern of naming the team the day before the game, he revealed last night.
