Le Havre AC confirmed the departure of the left-back Christopher Opéri (27) to Turkish club Başakşehir for an unconfirmed fee reported to be €2.5 million.
The Ivorian international had developed in the SM Caen academy system. However, he was unable to make a professional appearance for the club that is now owned by France international and Real Madrid start Kylian Mbappé (25).
Opéri would make his full debut at LB Châteauroux before leaving in 2021 for Belgian club Gent. It was there that the fullback earned the interest of Le Havre who would secure his signing in 2022.
In his first season at Le Club Doyen, Opéri would help the team win promotion to the top flight of French football by winning Ligue 2 as part of a defence that conceded only 19 goals. Last season would be his first taste of Ligue 1 football as Le Havre secured safety.
