Two Newcastle United stars were conspicuous by their absence on Sunday, as the match ended Newcastle 2 Nottingham Forest 0 without them.
Lewis Hall and Jacob Ramsey not featuring in the 20 man squad for this Premier League match ahead of the October international break.
When Eddie Howe gave his pre-match press conference on Friday, the NUFC duo seemingly set to be amongst those up for selection on Sunday.
The Newcastle United Head Coach stating on Friday that Jacob Ramsey was ahead of schedule on his recovery from injury and instead of aimed at the Brighton match after the internationals, the signing from Villa was in line to return to the squad against Forest.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hall played the last twenty or so minutes of the 4-0 victory over Union S-G and Eddie Howe said at that pre-match press conference that he wasn’t aware of any new injuries after that midweek game.
However, when quizzed on their absence following the win over Forest, the Head Coach giving an official update on why the two Newcastle United stars hadn’t featured in his matchday squad on Sunday.
Eddie Howe on Jacob Ramsey:
“He is good and he has trained for two days.
“I just made the decision that I didn’t want to risk him, potentially set him back again.
“I want to give him these two weeks of the international break to make sure he is ready for the next game [against Brighton.”
Eddie Howe on Lewis Hall:
“He felt his hamstring against Union [Saint-Gilloise].
“A real blow for us.
“We have been trying to manage him back, as I said on Friday.
“Unfortunately, he just felt something in that game.
“We have had it scanned, but before we can get conclusive evidence of how long he is going to be out, we need another scan in about ten days.
“So, it is not going to be a short-term injury but we hope it is not going to be a long-term injury. We don’t know yet.”
