Official confirmation: Thomas Müller has extended his contract in Vancouver! | OneFootball

After leaving FC Bayern, Thomas Müller joined the Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada. In the MLS, the former Bayern player immediately showcased his full range of skills. 

The offensive player has managed to take the Whitecaps to a new level. But recently, there was uncertainty about his future, as Müller’s contract was set to expire at the end of 2026.

That is no longer the case, however, as the Whitecaps have now confirmed that Müller has extended his contract. He is now under contract with the club through the summer of 2027.

Müller Extends Contract in Vancouver

“Since his arrival a little over a year ago, Thomas has fully identified with this club, this city, and this province,” said Axel Schuster, sporting director of Whitecaps FC.

He continued: “He has further strengthened the winning mentality we’ve built within our team over the past few years, while also demonstrating just how committed he is to this club’s success and how badly he wants to win. There’s no question that, as a club, we’ve reached new heights since Thomas’s arrival. We’ve made it to the MLS Cup for the first time ever and established ourselves as one of the top teams in the league.”

In total, Müller played 45 times for the MLS team, scoring 19 goals and recording 12 assists.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here from the very beginning,” Müller himself explained in the press release. He added: “Vancouver has been very open and welcoming toward me, and I’ve felt that spirit throughout the entire club. We have an attacking, possession-based style of play that’s a lot of fun.”

A return to FC Bayern apparently remains a possibility for Müller in the future, and the record-holding champions are trying to recruit him for a role within the club. But that’s still a long way off.
