Official: Cramer, Ricken & Treß extend contracts with Borussia Dortmund | OneFootball

The the advisory board of Borussia Dortmund has officially extended the contracts of Carsten Cramer, Lars Ricken, and Thomas Treß.

In doing so, Cramer, previously Spokesperson of the Management Board, has been appointed Chairman of the Management Board.

Carsten Cramer's contract, originally set to expire on 30 June, 2027, has been extended until 30 June, 2031.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Sport Lars Ricken's contract has also been extended early and will now run until June 30, 2030.

Thomas Treß – overseeing Finance, Legal & Investor Relations – has decided, at his own request, to extend his stay until 30 June, 2028. 

Treß intends to step down from the board and focus his efforts on mandates on supervisory and control boards of other companies.

However, the 60-year-old will continue to be available to Borussia Dortmund in an advisory capacity as and when needed.

Svenja Schlenker's employment contract, who was appointed Managing Director in November 2025, remains unchanged and runs until 2028.

With these long-term contract extensions, BVB said it is “explicitly reaffirming its commitment to the existing management team.” 

“I have great confidence in Carsten Cramer and the entire management team," said BVB President Hans-Joachim Watzke.

"They possess the experience, competence, and understanding of our club's unique identity to successfully lead Borussia Dortmund into the future.

"With the new corporate strategy and the initiated process of revising the club's statutes, important projects have been set in motion.

"They [the projects] will position BVB for future success in sporting, economic, structural, and cultural terms.

“I am convinced that Borussia Dortmund is in very good hands with this management team,” Watzke concluded.
