Official: Departing Sevilla star joins Celtic | OneFootball

A recently-departed member of the attacking ranks at La Liga outfit Sevilla has put pen to paper on terms with Scottish heavyweights Celtic.

The player in question? Kelechi Iheanacho.

Frontman Iheanacho for his part returned to base in Seville earlier this summer.

As much came after an underwhelming first six months for the Nigerian at The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán culminated in him being farmed out on loan to Middlesbrough.

With Iheanacho having not featured in the plans of the Sevilla coaching staff for the campaign ahead, his contract was therefore terminated on deadline day earlier this week.

And as alluded to above, it has not taken the 28-year-old at all long to find a new home.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the aforementioned Celtic:

‘Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal, subject to international clearance, with the club having the option of a further year.’
