Eintracht Frankfurt have today announced the signing of Ellyes Skhiri (28) on a free transfer. The Tunisian midfielder has signed a four-year deal until 2027 with the Hessen club after his contract at FC Köln expired.

“With Ellyes Skhiri we were able to sign an absolute dream player,” said Markus Krösche. “He’s a seasoned Bundesliga player with plenty of national and international experience. Despite lucrative offers from home and abroad, he opted for Eintracht and thus underlined how much he identifies with the task here in Frankfurt. Ellyes will be an important player and stabiliser in defensive-midfield.”

Skhiri enjoyed an impressive four-years in Cologne following his move from Montpellier. The Tunisian constantly posted excellent defensive numbers and has been a consistent player in the Bundesliga since his move. Last season, Skhiri played 40 games across all competitions under Steffen Baumgart, scoring eight and recording one assist. He also represented Tunisia at the World Cup.

As reported by Sky Germany, Dino Toppmöller was key in getting this deal over the line having convinced Skhiri of the Eintracht project. He will also become Die Adler’s seventh signing of the summer as they look to build upon an impressive last two campaigns and establish themselves as a top club in Germany.

Upon signing for the club, Skhiri said: “Eintracht Frankfurt is a club that has developed strongly in recent years. I was impressed by how intensively those responsible tried to help me. I’m convinced that Frankfurt is the right step for that and that we will achieve our goals together.”

During his time at Köln, Skhiri played 133 games across all competitions, scoring 20 and creating eight.
