FC Köln have signed Borussia Dortmund forward Steffen Tigges on a four year deal.
It’s reported that the transfer fee for the striker is around €3m.
The 23-year-old struggled for playing time at BVB but will now have the chance to impress in the Cathedral City under head coach Steffen Baumgart.
Tigges’ time at Dortmund was spent mostly with the U23s in the Regionalliga and 3. Liga. However, last season the forward managed nine Bundesliga appearances and scored three goals.
Tigges welcomed his new move by saying: “The talks with the coach and the officials immediately convinced me that it was exactly the right step for me. I’m sure that I fit in well with the team and the style of play and that we can have a very good season. The fact that 1. FC Köln is one of the biggest clubs in Germany with outstanding support from its fans also played an important role in my move.”
Meanwhile, FC Köln managing director Christian Keller welcomed the new signing: “Steffen has many important striker qualities. He has finishing quality in the box, good wall playing skills, a strong header game and good anticipation of the game. Added to this is his willingness to work aggressively and constantly against the ball. At the same time, Steffen can go further in all elements of his game. That offers a lot of imagination for the future.”
