Niclas Füllkrug will hope to give Max Allegri a much needed offensive boost.

While Milan are having a good season, currently sitting 2nd in Serie A table, it’s been clear for a while that they need reinforcements in attack, with all players either struggling for form or fitness.

The Rossoneri management identified Füllkrug as an affordable option to give coach Allegri more options and today, as the January transfer market opened, the move was made official.

“Milan is delighted to announce that Niclas Füllkrug has joined the Club on loan from West Ham United, with an option to make the move permanent,” a statement reads.

“Born in Hanover, Germany on 9 February 1993, Niclas Füllkrug came through the Werder Bremen youth academy and spent his early playing career in Germany, featuring for Greuther Fürth, Nürnberg and Hannover 96 before returning to Werder Bremen in 2019. In the summer of 2023 he joined Borussia Dortmund, where he made 42 appearances and scored 15 goals in a single season, three of them in the Champions League – a competition in which he also started in the final against Real Madrid. After his spell with Borussia, the German striker made the switch to the Premier League, joining West Ham United. In November 2022, Füllkrug earned his first call-up to the senior national team and was included in Germany’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

“Füllkrug will wear the number 9 shirt.” The 32-year-old is set to score a goal this season but will hope to do it soon. He is in the squad for tonight’s Cagliari match.
