AJ Auxerre have announced the signing of Gabriel Osho (25), whose contract at recently relegated Luton Town expired earlier this month.
Auxerre will once again compete in Ligue 1 next season, following their promotion from Ligue 2 last season. The club are looking to strengthen their squad in order to bolster their chances of remaining in France’s top-flight. However, the ongoing TV rights situation has made recruitment difficult, with aborted deals attributed to the LFP’s inability to secure a broadcaster for the coming season.
Osho represented a good opportunity. The centre-back was out of contract at Luton Town, who recent to the EFL Championship next season. During the Hatters’ one and only season in the Premier Leauge, the centre-back made 23 appearances in all competitions, including 21 league appearances.
However, he has left the Championship side for a new challenge, joining Auxerre on a free transfer on a one-year deal, with an option for a further two years. Osho will wear the No.3 jersey for his new club.
