Around a week before the German summer transfer window closes, Hamburger SV have strengthened their attack.

Die Rothosen have confirmed that 27-year-old Nigerian striker Terem Moffi has joined the club on a permanent basis from OGC Nice.

“Terem fits our approach extremely well. With his signing, we are making ourselves even stronger and more versatile in the centre-forward position, thereby increasing the quality of our squad,” said HSV director of sport Kathleen Krüger.

“His career to date has given him extensive experience at a high international level, which he can also pass on to our young talents. We are delighted that Terem is at HSV and warmly welcome him.”

Moffi revealed that HSV head coach Merlin Polzin played a key role in convincing him to make the move to the North German club.

“The coach was really very convincing in our conversations. The location, with its fantastic fans, and the club’s overall direction also played a role in my decision,” Moffi said.

“Even though HSV spent a few years in the second division, the club is still a big name, and that’s true all over the world. When I told my father about their interest, he immediately knew which club it was and was full of excitement. For me, that was crazy in a positive way. I’m even happier now to be part of the history and the club myself.”
