Inter have officially signed Spanish goalkeeper Josep Martinez from Genoa for a reported €15.5m including various add-ons.
The shot-stopper turned 26 in May and made his debut Serie A appearance this season, following Genoa’s promotion from Serie B.
He spent time in the academies of Barcelona and Las Palmas before the move to RB Leipzig in 2020, then came to Genoa initially on loan in 2022, making the move permanent a year later for €3.5m.
According to multiple sources, the cost of the operation for Inter is €13.5m plus another €2m in bonuses.
Martinez becomes the sixth Spanish player to wear the Inter jersey.
Over two seasons at Genoa, the goalkeeper made 68 appearances between Serie A, Serie B and the Coppa Italia, conceding 68 goals.
He is set to initially be the understudy to Switzerland international Yann Sommer, with the idea of taking over from next season.
The goalkeeper put pen to paper on a contract and already had his medical tests last week.
