Olympique de Marseille have confirmed the signing of Ismaël Koné (22). The Canada international joins Les Phocéens from EFL Championship side Watford.
Koné is currently competing in the Copa América with Canada, however, a deal between OM and Watford was struck last week. OM’s doctors travelled over to the United States in order to undergo a medical, which has now been completed. The midfielder, who came through the ranks at CF Montréal, joins the Ligue 1 giants for a reported €12m fee.
It is expected to be a busy day at Marseille. Koné’s move is now complete but he isn’t expected to be the only incoming of the day. Lilian Brassier travelled to the South of France last night in order to undergo his medical and his move from Stade Brestois is set to go through imminently.
There could also be an outgoing. Iliman Ndiaye only joined OM from Sheffield United last summer, however, his move to Everton could be confirmed as early as Wednesday.
