Official: Juventus and Italy legend Chiellini becomes part-owner of LAFC | OneFootball

MLS side LAFC have officially confirmed that Juventus and Italy legend is now a part-owner of the club, where he ended his 22-year playing career in the winter of 2023.

“LAFC announced today that legendary Italian defender and former LAFC player Giorgio Chiellini has joined the club’s ownership group,” a statement on the club website read.

Chiellini, who is also currently serving as director of football strategy with Juventus, is now part of the ownership group that owns LAFC.

LAFC have three managing owners in Larry Berg, Brandon Beck and Bennet Rosenthal, who took control of the club in 2016. LAFC also has a long list of part-owners, many of whom are celebrities, prominent figures and ex-sportspeople, including the likes of Magic Johnson, Will Ferrell and now Chiellini, too.

“Joining the LAFC ownership group is a great honor for me,” Chiellini said after the confirmation of his new role within the club’s ownership group.

“When I arrived here three years ago as a player, I immediately felt that there was something special about this club,” he continued.

“It is an ambitious organization, built by extraordinary people and supported by a community that truly makes you feel at home. That is why, last year, I expressed my desire to become an owner, and now I’m proud to continue this journey and give my support to a project I deeply believe in.”

On top of his 45 appearances for LAFC at the end of his playing career, Chiellini also held a role as player development coach before sealing his return to Juventus in 2024.

Chiellini’s ownership stake in LAFC is not expected to impact his day-to-day duties in his role with Juventus.
