“Cabal will undergo surgery in the next few days,” it concluded.

The summer was forced to return to Turin after being called up for international duty with Colombia with a suspected ACL injury, which has now been confirmed.

Reports from local outlets including Ilbianconero.com suggest that the 23-year-old’s season is now over.

Cabal is the second defender that Juventus have lost to a cruciate ligament injury this term, following the loss of centre-back Gleison Bremer during the Champions League victory over RB Leipzig at the beginning of October.

Cabal has featured in seven Serie A matches plus two in the Champions League since his arrival from Hellas Verona in the summer.

Juventus are already considering their options in the January transfer window to seek reinforcements after the losses of Bremer and Cabal, but reports on Thursday afternoon suggest that the Bianconeri are most likely to promote from within to replace the Colombian.
