Monaco have tonight announced that German forward Kevin Volland has left the club for Union Berlin, with the 31-year-old forward leaving the Principality after three seasons.
During his time in French football, the German made 115 appearances in all competitions, scoring 39 goals and registering 24 assists. After an impressive first two campaigns – 18 and 15 strikes respectively – his final campaign at Monaco was blighted by injury, limiting him to just three league goals.
The Bavarian has moved to Berlin for a reported €5.5m fee, and will play in the Champions League group stages with his new club. Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen had also reportedly been the subject of interest from Wolfsburg.
Union Berlin have been one of the surprise underdog stories of the European stage, having successively qualified for all three continental competitions in the space of three years, despite only being promoted in 2018. The squad features two other ex-Ligue 1 players in Jérôme Roussillon, Aïssa Laïdouni, and Lucas Tousart.
