It may have already been known for a while, but Kylian Mbappe has officially announced that he will be leaving PSG at the end of the season, taking a step closer towards Real Madrid.

Mbappe, 25, has been a top target for Los Blancos for years now and a move for the Frenchman has been explored in the past with no success.

However, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s contract expires at the end of the season and earlier this year, he informed PSG that he would not renew his deal.

An official announcement had not been made by the player or the club until now. But, following their exit from the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, the superstar has confirmed his decision.

Mbappe made the announcement via a video on his social media profiles, confirming that his journey with Les Parisiens comes to an end in a few weeks and that he will be playing his last home game this Sunday.

Reports of PSG arranging a farewell for Mbappe at Parc des Princes on Sunday had been circulating earlier this week. And with the video, the French superstar has made it official.

It also means that it is only a matter of time before Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid is announced.

A contract agreement between the two parties is understood to have been in place for quite some time now, with only the formal announcement of the transfer pending.

It will likely take place after the UEFA Champions League final in which Real Madrid face Borussia Dortmund.
