Only six months after having left Stade Rennais for Amiens, Mohamed Jaouab (22) is back with Les Rouges et Noirs, as the club has activated a buy-back clause included in the sale of the centre-back last winter.

Some players do not need any adaptation time to perform in a new environment, and the least we can say is that Jaouab is one of them. Sold by Rennes last winter to Amiens for a nominal fee of €400K, the young Moroccan made an immediate impact at the Stade de la Licorne, being a guaranteed starter in the second part of the season. Under French coach Omar Daf, the centre back impressed, with the team being defeated only once in the 11 games in which he took part. While Jaouab was injured twice and missing seven games in total, Amiens recorded only one success in that timeframe, which highlighted the importance of their newly addition.

Despite the sale of their academy product, Rennes kept an eye on the promising defender and decided to trigger the buy-back option of €1M included in the contract of their player last winter, as reported by L’Équipe. If Amiens is losing one of their best players in the second part of the season, the €600K profit is surely a welcome addition to the club’s finances.
