Official! Left-back agrees new Benfica deal with Rui Costa | OneFootball

It's official. Martim Amaral has signed a youth development contract with Benfica, taking another important step in his journey with the Reds. At 15, the left-back is in his third season wearing the eagle on his chest, having joined the Lisbon club in 2024/25.

Born on February 2, 2011, the young footballer currently plays for the Under-16s. Before joining the Eagles, he played for Canidelo and Dragon Force, clubs where he took his first steps in football before continuing his development at one of the country's leading academies.

His adaptation to the club led by Rui Costa could not have gone better. In his debut season, Martim Amaral won the Under-15 National Second Division, celebrating a title with Benfica early in his journey at the club.

In the 2025/26 season, the left-back once again posted impressive numbers, making 29 appearances for the Under-15s and scoring four goals. Those figures also demonstrate the youngster's ability to contribute in the final third, despite playing in a defensive position.

In 2026/27, Martim Amaral was promoted to the Under-16s and has made three appearances so far. The left-back also had the opportunity to make his debut in the Under-17 National First Division, gaining further valuable experience in his development, just like Semedo.
