Official – LFP reschedules Ligue 1 matchdays 33 and 34

Strasbourg’s qualification for the Europa Conference League semi-finals, after overturning Mainz (4-0 in the second leg after a 2-0 defeat in the first), is excellent news for French football. It is also causing a slight shake-up, since the second leg against Rayo Vallecano is scheduled for May 7. The Professional Football League has therefore postponed the multiplex for Ligue 1 matchday 33, initially set for May 9, as well as the UNFP Trophies ceremony.

“Ligue 1 McDonald’s matchday 33: The RC Lens – FC Nantes match will be played on Friday, May 8 at 8:45 pm The other eight matches will be played simultaneously on Sunday, May 10 at 9 pm. Ligue 1 McDonald’s matchday 34: The nine matches of the final matchday will be played simultaneously on Sunday, May 17 at 9 pm.

A logical decision, since it is not possible to play with only one day of rest. It makes sense to adapt the schedule a little for European competition, even though we know it can also spark major controversy. This time, it would be surprising to see any protest. The same goes for matchday 34. Above all, let’s enjoy having two French clubs in a European semi-final, as PSG will face Bayern Munich on April 28 and May 6 in the Champions League.
