With the new Ligue 1 campaign just around the corner, Lille OSC have added some experience to their backline. On Friday, the club announced the signing of left-back Romain Perraud (27) from Real Betis. Perraud joins Les Dogues after just one season in Spain, signing a three-year contract with the club.

His last stop in France was during the 2023-24 season when he was loaned to OGC Nice from English side Southampton, making 19 Ligue 1 appearances for Les Aiglons that season. The Toulouse-born defender made nearly 50 appearances in the Premier League with the Saints before being loaned to Nice, his original senior club, with an option to buy.

Rather than sticking around though, Perraud signed for Betis in June 2024 and was a part of the team that finished as UEFA Europa Conference League runners-up last season.

One of the best XI players at the Toulon Tournament in 2018, Perraud also played two seasons in the French top-flight for Stade Brestois 29.
