La Liga newcomers Málaga have late this week announced a fresh addition to the club’s first-team ranks. This comes by way of confirmation that Juan Cruz has been brought in for the duration of the 2026/27 campaign.
Cruz, for his part, is fresh off a season plying his trade in Spanish football’s 2nd tier, with Leganés.
All told, across 39 appearances in La Liga 2, the 26-year-old racked up six direct goal contributions, made up of three goals and three assists.
Whilst his production was far from spectacular, the overall level of Cruz’s performances is understood to have piqued the attentions of a number of clubs this summer.
One such club come in the form of the aforementioned Málaga, with whom the versatile winger spent the early years of his career honing his craft.
And as alluded to above, on Sunday, the Boquerones have secured a highly anticipated reunion with Cruz.
As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms:
‘Juan Cruz joins Málaga CF on loan from Leganés until the end of the 26/27 season, although Málaga has an option to buy. The Argentine player, who has strong ties to Málaga and the MCF Academy, will be under the command of Juanfran Funes as the team returns to the top flight of Spanish football.’
