Stade Brestois have confirmed that Mama Baldé (28) has joined the club from Olympique Lyonnais on a three-year contract for an unconfirmed fee.
After spending last season on loan at Lyon, Baldé was made a permanent signing in July. The Guinea Bissau international cost Les Gones €6.5 million including bonuses with 10% of any future transfer fee going to his former club ESTAC Troyes.
For Troyes, Baldé had been the club’s best player in their ill-fated 2022/23 campaign that saw the Burgundy club drop down into Ligue 2, but for Lyon, the winger who can also play as a defender was far less consistent. Baldé earned a spot within the squad as a flexible option that could help see out games in the dying minutes.
A role he had performed in the first two game weeks of the season before being left out of Lyon’s home game against RC Strasbourg Alsace earlier today so that he could complete his move to Brest.
