Manchester United have announced that Collette Roche has been handed a new crucial position within the club’s hierarchy.
United have released a statement, confirming that Roche has been appointed to the role of chief executive officer, new stadium development.
She has played a leading role in United’s ambitious plan to construct a state-of-the-art 100,000-seater stadium.
In March last year, United officially announced their intention to build a brand-new stadium next to Old Trafford. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe said it would be “the world’s greatest football stadium, at the centre of a regenerated Old Trafford.” It is a dream he been relentlessly pursuing since completing his minority investment into the club.
Last week, United launched the Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation (OTR MDC), fronted by Lord Coe, to oversee the project to completion.
Established as the catalyst for change, the OTR MDC is overseeing the transformation of Old Trafford’s 370-acre site. This regeneration will provide more than 15,000 new homes, create up to 90,000 jobs, improve public spaces, and deliver significant infrastructure benefits.
In their statement, United note that Roche will report to chief executive Omar Berrada.
Berrada said, “Collette has done a fantastic job leading the club’s work to develop our ambition to build a new 100,000-seater stadium as part of the wider Old Trafford Regeneration.”
“As we start to accelerate our plans, we are delighted that Collette will now be totally focused on working to deliver this hugely important project.”
Roche remarked, “I am incredibly proud to have been asked to lead the new stadium development and continue to work closely with the Mayoral Development Corporation and all our diverse stakeholders.”
“Our aspiration is to create the best stadium in the world for the best team and fanbase in sport – guided by fans’ input throughout the design and development process.”
“We are committed to taking a consultative approach, ensuring our plans are shaped by fans every step of the way.”
Meanwhile, United are next in action on Sunday when they host Fulham.
