Ter Stegen was part of Barcelona’s 2015 Champions League-winning side. He made 423 appearances for the club before leaving for the first time at the start of the year.
His loan at fellow LaLiga side Girona lasted only two games due to injury. Girona were subsequently relegated from the Spanish top flight.
The 44-time Germany international called the switch the “right option”. He will be reunited with Julian Brandt at the Eredivisie club.
