Official | Marseille sign Emerson Palmieri from West Ham United | OneFootball

Marseille have announced the signing of West Ham United left-back Emerson Palmieri (31).  The Italy international landed in Marseille on Sunday. It had been touted that Emerson would terminate his West Ham United contract before making the move; however, ultimately, Marseille have reportedly paid a fixed fee of €700,000, plus an extra €300,000 in bonuses.

Marseille were in the market for an experienced left-back after parting ways with Quentin Merlin, who joined Ligue 1 rivals Stade Rennais. Marseille were exploring moves for Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas and Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko. In the end, Palmieri was the one. He’ll wear the No. 33 jersey for Les Phocéens.

A low-cost option, the left-back also has the advantage of having already acquired Ligue 1 experience during his time on loan at Olympique Lyonnais, whilst he is also operational and ready to go after the international break. Emerson should be accompanied in Marseille by former West Ham teammate Nayef Aguerd.
