RB Leipzig have officially confirmed the appointment Martín Demichelis as their new coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The 45-year-old, most recently in charge of La Liga side RCD Mallorca, signed a contract with the Red Bulls until 30 June, 2028.

“With Martín Demichelis, we are gaining a head coach who has gained experience as a player and coach in Europe, South America, and North America, working at the highest level.

This international perspective is an excellent fit for RB Leipzig and its global focus. Martín combines a clear playing philosophy with high intensity and professional expertise.

“We are convinced that he will give our team important impetus and play a key role in shaping the club's continued success,” said Marcel Schäfer, managing director of sport.

The Argentine's first steps in coaching came at Málaga as an assistant, as well as some time as a youth coach with Bayern Munich.

He also had stints as head coach of River Plate in Argentina, CF Monterrey of Mexico and most recently the aforementioned Mallorca.
