Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Mathys Tel (20) has completed a permanent move to the club from Bayern Munich.

France youth international Tel spent the second half of last season on loan at the Premier League club. He made 13 Premier League appearances following the move, scoring twice and registering one assist. He was part of the squad that lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy and, as a result, Spurs have qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

He will now take part in that European campaign following the completion of his move. Tottenham Hotspur did not reveal the value of the transfer, however, L’Équipe estimates that the deal is worth around €40m, including bonuses.

The Frenchman has signed a six-year deal with the club, who next season will be managed by Thomas Frank, following Ange Postecoglou’s recent exit. Tel is currently on international duty with the France U21 side. He netted in Les Bleuets’ 3-2 victory over Georgia’s U21s on Saturday.
