Hoffenheim have confirmed that Max Moerstedt (19) has signed a long-term contract extension, amid interest from VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Sinsheim club wanted to avoid another Tom Bischof type situation after seeing their academy graduate leave for Bayern Munich on a free transfer.
“Max is another example of the successful path our academy has taken in Hoffenheim,” said Andreas Schicker. “Despite his young age, he already brings international experience at the highest youth level, as well as in the Bundesliga and Europa League.
“He proved himself early on, was gradually introduced to professional football, and seized his opportunities. We are convinced that Max still has great potential for development and are very pleased that he will be a long-term asset to our squad.”
Moerstedt, who has come off the bench in nine Bundesliga games this season, added: “I greatly appreciate the trust placed in me by the management here in Hoffenheim.
“TSG offers me optimal conditions for my athletic and personal development.
“Despite interest from other clubs, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to continue my journey here. I look forward to working on establishing myself further in the professional ranks and contributing to the team’s success.”
