OGC Nice have announced that Melvin Bard (23) has extended his contract at the club until 2028. It comes after a summer in which some of Le Gym’s most promising prospects, including Evann Guessand, Antoine Mendy, Tom Louchet, and Victor Orakpo also committed their futures to the Ligue 1 side.
Whilst Ali Abdi has just arrived at the club in order to provide backup to Bard, in the wake of Jordan Lotomba’s €5m move to Feyenoord, Bard’s long-term future is now assured. The former Olympique Lyonnais defender has had to fight for his spot, with Joe Bryan and Romain Perraud brought in in consecutive seasons in order to challenge Bard’s position. However, it was a fight that Bard has won on both occasions, leaving his slot at left-wing back unchallenged.
In light of his development, Nice have now tied Bard down to a long-term deal, which will run until the summer of 2028.
