Forgotten Barcelona defender Moussa Wague has secured a loan move away from Camp Nou to sign for Croatian club HNK Gorica on a season-long loan deal, the club have confirmed.
Wague joined Barcelona from Belgian side KAS Eupen in the summer of 2018. The right-back was initially a part of Barça’s Atletic side and made 20 appearances for them, while he also featured six times for the senior team.
The Senegalese defender left the Blaugrana on loan to join OGC Nice in January 2020 but hardly played. Upon returning, Wague was loaned out to PAOK in Greece, but a serious knee injury meant that the spell was cut short late in 2020.
Wague had been out of action for over a year before making his return to full fitness in the early parts of 2022. However, having not been registered with Barcelona’s first team or the Atletic side, he was not involved in any action.
Having spent 18 months without any football, Wague is now getting a chance to rejuvenate his career with a loan move away to Croatia.
HNK Gorica have confirmed that the 23-year-old will be spending the 2022/23 campaign on loan and will wear the No. 15 jersey for the club.
Wague’s contract with Barcelona will also expire in 2023, meaning he could become a free agent once his loan deal with HNK Gorica is over.
